Like it or not, clothes can help shape our identity. Unfortunately, many of us just don’t make the most of our appearance.
We dress up for special occasions – and they are few and far between to say the least. When it comes to the grocery shop, or even heading out to work, we’re happy to don our average clothes that really don’t emphasize our good points or make us stand out in the slightest.
Well, we’re here to change such behavior. We’ve listed ten reasons (and in truth there are many more) for why you should make an effort with your clothing choices on a day to day basis. Let’s take a look at them in detail.
Quick Navigation
- It starts conversations
- The ‘cost per wear’ factor
- Why not flaunt it?
- Make the most of your wardrobe
- You can forget your hair
- Feel the “mirror rush”
- You don’t have to be rich, you don’t have to be famous
- There’s nothing worse than being average
- You’ll never know who you might meet
- Because you want to
It starts conversations
It might sound ridiculous, but who’s going to talk about you if you’re just wearing a standard, boring set of clothes? On the flip side, wear your best outfit, or most outlandish one, and tongues suddenly start wagging.
If you’re the type of guy who struggles at the best of times to put a conversation together, your clothes can actually prove to be one of the prime sources. Sure, it’s not going to take hours of talk every day, but to break the ice that unique shirt might be just the ticket.
The ‘cost per wear’ factor
This is one of the more interesting terms which is being branded about in the fashion industry right now, and if you’re the type of guy who can’t get enough of clothes shopping then you should take notice right now.
Far too many of us will fill up our wardrobes, only to never wear the new purchases. We’ll stockpile shirts, jumpers and everything else – but wear them sparingly. It means that put simply, your “cost per wear” figure is absolutely huge.
By dressing up every day you can finally drive this figure down. Start making the complete most of your wardrobe.
Why not flaunt it?
It’s an old saying, but it’s completely relevant for this guide. If you’ve got it, why not flaunt it?
If you’ve got those bulging arms, or that flat chest, make sure your clothes do all the talking and get people to notice them. If you don’t take pride in your appearance on a daily basis, there’s every chance these dominating features will go to waste.
Make the most of your wardrobe
One day (or maybe even now), you’ll have to wear suits and other formal attire on a daily basis. As such, now is the time to make the most of your flexibility. In other words you need to make the most of the occasion; you’re not being forced into wearing anything you don’t like.
You can choose your outfit as you please – the only requirement is that you make an effort.
You can forget your hair
Ok, this isn’t going to work for EVERY hair style out there – but you should get the point. By dressing up properly every day, you are deflecting attention away from the other areas of your body. Suffice to say, your hair is one of these.
Some might suggest that this tends to appeal more to females, but we’ll disagree. With long hair making a resurgence amongst guys, you might get away with spending a little less time with the gel.
Feel the “mirror rush”
Some people will immediately realize this feeling, whereas others might have to be reminded. If you fall into the latter category, it’s even more evidence that you simply NEED to feel the “mirror rush”.
In short, this is that tingling “rush” which hits you when you look in the mirror. It only happens when you are donning your best clothes – if you’re Mr. Average you’ll likely feel the complete opposite. There’s no better feeling than looking in the mirror and knowing that you look absolutely golden – it’s something that every guy should experience, and why not on a daily basis?
You don’t have to be rich, you don’t have to be famous
This is one of the biggest misconceptions regarding the subject; most people think that only the rich and famous deserve to look their best each and every day. For the rest of us well, meh, who cares?
The attitude above is completely invalid. Sure, your wardrobe might not be quite as expensive as that A-list celebrity – and you might not strictly “need” to look your premium best. But both of these points are invalid. Just because you’re not a household name, doesn’t mean to say that you shouldn’t be able to turn heads in the street.
There’s nothing worse than being average
It’s a fact of life; nobody likes a Mr. Average. There’s absolutely nothing worse than just blending into the crowd and not standing out – what’s the point?
By looking your best each and every day, you avoid the above description. Sure, you might not be wearing clothes that are up everyone’s street, but that’s irrelevant. You are wearing what you feel comfortable in and going against the average description that plagues so many men up and down the country.
You’ll never know who you might meet
This is one of the more interesting points – at least it could be if you stumble into that special someone next time you make that standard trip to the shops. The general opinion is why should you dress up for such an occasion? Well, if you bump into someone special in your life, or that A-list celeb who is buying his or her groceries, it will all be worth it.
Sure, the chances of you meeting the above are slim – but it does happen. When it does, you need to be prepared.
Because you want to
In short, why shouldn’t you dress up? As we’ve already highlighted, it’s something that can boost your life in umpteen ways and most of you actually want to put on your best clothes, rather than blending in.
This in itself should be sufficient.
