They might be one of the most desirable features for females, but when it comes to guys boobs are anything but desirable.
Unfortunately, man boobs are something that hinders more men than one might imagine, whether this is due to a condition called gynecomastia, or just being overweight.
In relation to the former, this is a condition which can occur in adolescents and adults, and is also frequently caused by medications.
Therefore, your condition doesn’t necessarily have to be due to overindulgence.
There are more serious causes as well, with tumours, liver and kidney disease all being possibilities. However, on the whole (and we’re really not generalising here), it’s all due to basic weight management.
Ultimately, if you are carrying a few too many pounds, there’s a very good chance that you’ll become a victim of the dreaded man boobs.
On the plus side (pardon the pun), there are ways to combat them. You can completely get rid of them, if you follow these steps. Here, we’ll take a look at how you can achieve this without hitting the treadmill for hours and hours on end.
Small Patterns Disguise Big Problems
You don’t necessarily have to go on a fat-club esque exercise program to combat man boobs, although few would disagree that it certainly helps.
Instead, just choosing clothing covered in sensible patterns can work a treat. Patterns are one of the easiest solutions to the problem but whatever you do, don’t go too big.
Small patterns are the way forward, particularly those which cover the chest area, and can disguise the problem region perfectly.
If we were to pick a specific pattern, something like the pinstripe suit can work an absolute charm. Again, it’s all based on the standard set of slimming rules, where anything that emphasises the “long” appearance will treat you well.
A pinstripe suit creates a vertical line – something that isn’t interrupted by the boobs that will often blight your appearance.
Dark Colours Achieve The Same Effect
On the subject of style, always opt for dark shades over light colours.
As anyone who will have struggled with weight management problems in the past will testify, dark colours are always recommended to give the “thin” look.
The same rules apply when you are only trying to “shrink” the chest area.
Whatever you do, never go for white clothing.
This is the sure-fire way to bring attention to your boobs – and unwanted attention, we should also add.
Avoid Contrast
If we stick with the style tips, avoiding any sort of serious contrast should be high on your agenda as well.
Matching the upper and lower parts of your body will prompt a more “seamless” body shape – one which ultimately isn’t cut in half and epitomizes the short and wide appearance.
Admittedly, it can be difficult to perfect a style where the top and bottom are of a similar shade.
However, this is again a classic slimming tip, and one that does your chest no-end of favours.
Compress The Situation
While all of the tips so far have concentrated on style, there are occasions where you may need a little more help in tricking the eye.
This is where compression clothing comes into the picture and over the last few years, this has made a significant difference to both men and women around the world who are looking to curb their weight management problems.
In short, they “hold” to the body and effectively reshape it – helping to disguise the dreaded boobs. As you’ve probably already gathered, these garments don’t specifically target the boobs either – they can make a difference to the entire body and simply transform your appearance.
The options in relation to this area of clothing are endless as well. Pelham and Strutt are arguably the market leader in the UK, with this firm producing vests, short sleeve and long sleeve clothing to help a man show all of his important upper body parts.
Additionally, and this might be in contrast to some other companies who sell such clothing, all of the items are constructed from high-end fibres featuring core technology which can regulate the body’s temperature.

If you don’t happen to be based in the UK, there are other options. For example, over in the US Love My Bubbles happens to be the leader, with this company boasting a huge range which performs similarly to their UK rivals.
It’s also worth mentioning that this company are somewhat cheaper, which may play on some men’s’ minds.
…Or Just Think Outside The Box
Even though compression shirts have become much cheaper over the last few years, it goes without saying that not everyone wants to invest in such items.
It’s in these cases where one has to think somewhat out of the box. Thick clothes are the answer and instead of your man boobs poking through your thin garments, they are disguised by the “extra layers” which just hide all of these nasty elements away.
Of course, this is nowhere near as effective as compression clothing, while it’s an absolute no-go area for any man who lives in a warmer climate. Therefore, weigh up the pros and cons of this approach before proceeding.
Size Matters
It’s one of the most overused phrases in the world, but when it comes to hiding man boobs there’s no doubt that size matters.
What we are referring to here is the size of your clothes and if your wardrobe is full of items which just don’t fit, you’re left with gaping problems.
Baggy clothing makes the boobs look even bigger, while tight clothing obviously emphasises the problem even more.
If you can’t find it within yourself to invest in a compression shirt, at least buy clothes that fit.

Open up
While it might feel as though you are inviting the whole world into your man breasts, if you can choose a casual shirt or jacket to open up it’s another quick way to disguise the problem.
The opening takes some attention away from that problematic chest area and ultimately, your man boobs shirk away out of sight.
